From the Call for Artists: "The Town of Gilbert is looking for Arizona-based artists... to create digital artwork that will be printed and installed on metal traffic control cabinets located in Gilbert's Downtown Heritage District. The chosen design will reflect the character or history of the Heritage District specifically or Gilbert overall."
Located at the South East corner of the Gilbert Rd. and Juniper Ave. intersection, at the entrance to Gilbert's Heritage District.
In this mural, I combine Gilbert’s past as a railroad town along the Arizona Eastern Railway, various species of native birds, and whimsical clouds and smoke to commemorate the past, present, and future of the Town. Wildlife is a fundamental part of living in the Sonoran Desert and all of the bird species depicted can be found at the local Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch, a bird watching destination.
